Rev. Mo. Alaina Alexander

Alaina has been called to a life of poetry, beauty, and intimate ministry that has pulled her inexorably toward the work of justice and liberation.

As a Co-Abbess of Earthfire Abbey she lives in common and community, seeking to embody daily the radical hospitality of her faith.

She is a mystic of interior spaces, finding divinity in humanity, the struggles of ongoing resistance, and the works of the earth. Heavy with stories, she is a reluctant oracle, ardent poet, obligate author, haunt of God, prophet of the margins, and conjurer of cream soups.

All in all, Alaina spends her time living gratuitously and unapologetically.

Sacrament of Ashes

This dual volume is an exploration of the author's relationship with her trans identity as it wars with and painfully reshapes her calling as a minister and activist. Presented here in two opposing yet complimentary parts this volume of poetry offers a glimpse into the fracture of the author's adversarial worlds and the path she threads to bring them home within herself. In the authors words:

"I invite you into my struggle with God

so that you may, like Jacob, leave changed"
